For example, VU is currently being used by faculty in the Higher Education Division at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education in the following ways:

In
her Institutional
Research class, Susan Shaman uses VU to understand the impact
that research has within a university and to identify performance
measures that drive decision-making.

In
his case study course
on higher education, Doug Toma's students use VU on a project
to develop a viable institutional strategy for the specific case
the student has chosen; for example, changing the gender and ethnic
composition of the student body and faculty.

In
Penn's new Executive Doctor of Education in Higher Education Management
program, Robert Zemsky and William Massy work with students to create
a VU institution that resembles their own and explore the effects
of various decisions and leadership strategies.

Over 200 institutions of higher education and other affiliated organizations have begun to use VU to help students, faculty, and staff learn about higher education management.
